How exactly are solar nails filled?

after reading some of the other answers about solar vs acrylic nails i don't know that i will get accurate answers but maybe someone actually knows that there is a difference in the 2, not just the colors of the nail. i really am curios about how theyre filled. when theyve grown for about 3 weeks, how do they fill them and still shorten them? eventually the tips grow out, how do they redo the tips? so curious! How exactly are solar nails filled?
I'm guessing that by ';solar'; you mean a gel enhancement. They are filled much the same way as an acrylic. The back of the product is filed flush with the nail and new product is applied. A back fill (where they actually move the white or color back) that is also done the same as with an acrylic. There are a few different methods for backfills but pretty much the end of the enhancement is thinned down with filing and the white is repositioned with new product. The only difference between the application of acrylic and gel is that acrylic is ';cured'; by mixing the powder and a liquid monomer while the gel is cured by being placed under a UV light. You will definately notice a difference in wear with gel vs. acrylic (they are lighter and more flexible and tend to look more natural) but you shouldn't worry about the application... leave that to your well trained nail tech. :)How exactly are solar nails filled?
Yes, they file down the free edge and actually place a white gel or acrylic on and build a new smile line (thus looking like the tip). Or if you go to a really cheap salon they will just airbrush the white on. This process is called a backfill.
